Tourism & Hotel Management


The department of Tourism and Hotel Management is offering a degree programme in hospitality discipline. The department mainly aims to incubate the students who wish to see their career in hospitality industry. The department helps to equip the students who wish to be hotelier, tour provider, travel assistant and other related positions in the hospitality discipline. The department has been in limelight as it is tremendous success to give 100 percentage placements for all the batches it has produced so far.  The department has been organizing a plethora of diversified events that has brought laurels and honor to the department and the college. The college has got an entry into Limca Book of Records through a novel initiative of the department. Gourmet’s Hub, a food festival organized by the department in 2009 and 2013 has got acclaim and appreciation from the public.

            This department gives an opportunity to the students to equip themselves to meet the emerging challenges of the ever expanding Hospitality and Tourism Industry.  The department can proudly presents their alumni working in top positions in hotels and tourism organizations and doing hospitality businesses in most of the countries in the world.

            The department coordinates well with the hospitality industries to connect the industry with the campus. MEET THE INDUSTRY PROGRAMME (MIP), a programme inviting industrial experts to campus in every month to interact with the students, brings the department’s interest to connect the campus with the industry.

            The department is having a placement cell to take care of students’ placements for training as well as campus recruitment. The department could offer 100 percent placement who successfully completed their BTHM Programme.

             The alumnae of the department frequently visit the campus and interact with the students. All this programs help to develop and motivate students by understanding the latest trends in the industries. The department conducts many academic and non academic programmes for the developments of the students.       

            The department has conducted a two day national seminar on ‘Contemporary issues in hospitality industry of Kerala” was a grand success in the academic fields as well as in the research areas of hospitality education. The department has conducted ‘Scholar in Residence Programme’ under the Erudite Scheme of Government of Kerala,  first time in the college, by inviting a Professor from Taylors University, Malaysia.  Many Foreign Professors have invited to the campus to interact with department students.

             The department has taken many research projects related with tourism & Hospitality and submitted to government of Kerala and other authorities. The department has conducted many extension activities which were very helpful for the people who work in the hospitality industries and the students who aim hospitality as their career, in and around Malappuram district. The department conducts a three months diploma programme in “Chef” in association with JSS Malappuram, an NGO under MHRD, Government of India.  The department has MoUs with various industry people for the trainings and placements of the students. BTHM graduates have exiting and enticing opportunities in the lucrative management cadres in the tourism and hospitality organizations in India as well as abroad. Since the BTHM programme is fully Government aided, deserving students are eligible for fee concession and various scholarships.

The department of Tourism and Hotel Management is striving hard towards the human resource development with the focus on Hotel Management, Hospitality and Tourism sector and to prepare the students for immediate employment/ take-up entrepreneurship individually/ higher education by providing an overall and extensive exposure of tourism and hospitality industry.


  1. To provide education, training and skill development needed to prepare individuals for effective job performance in the hospitality, tourism and entertainment industries.
  2. To understand the management functions of tourism and hospitality industry including human resource management, marketing and technology applications.
